How many teams can the NBA possibly field in Europe and Asia, and where would they be located?

What cities in Asia, Europe, Africa and Australia, have indoor venues that can seat 15,000+ people, and can potentially house an NBA team?

How many teams can the NBA possibly field in Europe and Asia, and where would they be located?www.nba.com

In China and Japan there are already professional basketball leagues, so surely they have venues. Japan also hosted the FIBA Tournament a couple years ago. There are several leagues in Europe, so it shouldn't be difficult to find a venue there either. If they were to expand there, it would be nice to see 6-10 teams or so.

What possible nba teams is sun ming ming supposed to go to?

the nba team

What possible nba teams is sun ming ming supposed to go to?nba salary

None. The 7 foot 9, 370 pounder doesn't have the talent or dedication to make the NBA. he's currently dinking around the aba and is nothing more than a marketing ploy.

BTW: basketball wiz the 6 foot 9 shooting guard called sun yue who you showed a link to going as the 57th pick is not the giant sun ming ming

What possible nba teams is sun ming ming supposed to go to?nba jerseys ,nba teams

If you are talking about the 7'6 - 7'7 center from China who just learned how to play basketbal in the past couple of years and is now playing in a development league, I hear it is going to be the Utah Jazz.
Frankly, I'm not sure Ming Ming will go to the NBA anytime soon, and if he does, I don't really think he'll make much impact. He's soooo slow and awkward because of his medical condition (brain chip pushed against his petuitary gland which caused his giganticism. They fixed it, but now he has a loose piece of bone in there and that's not good. Or something like that.)

Yeah, I'm not sold on Sun Ming Ming having much of an NBA career.
Well online in some Mock Drafts it looks like he will be drafted by the Utah Jazz and will be the 57th pick.

Why are some NBA teams wearing white on away games?

I have recently noticed that during several NBA games, the road team is wearing their white jerseys. I know that the rule used to be that the home team always wore white. Did the rule recently change, and why?

Why are some NBA teams wearing white on away games?nba salaries

Becuase the home team gets to pick the jerseys they want to wear.

Most of the time they pick they're alternate jerseys (for example Suns orange, or Pistons red), which are usually a dark color, forcing the away team to wear white.

Why are some NBA teams wearing white on away games?nba playoff ,nba teams

cuz white is pimpin
because they have more than one choice on jerseys.
Recently, NBA heritage week was in session, with teams celebrating their older teams and wearing "classic" jerseys. The reason for teams wearing the away jerseys, is that the team's away jerseys usually have the team's "true" and more prominent colours.

Hope this helps.

Would transplants from NBA help some NBA teams?

I think Moss is fundamentally a tall, fast basketballer. That got me thinking that there are several in the NBA who would make awesome wide receivers like Moss. What tall and quick NBA players would be able to be transplanted to the NFL? Imagine Micheal Jordan as a wide receiver? Well, younger, like Lebron or somebody off the Celtics? It might really be interesting. I would recruit with that in mind. Every NFL team needs a Moss these days. Very tall and quick. Nobody in NFL can jump with Moss. Need a few more to spread around.

Would transplants from NBA help some NBA teams?nba hoops

no. nfl players can take punishment like no other atheletes. imagine jordan catching a pass over the middle and then getting smoked by someone like urlacher.( did i spell that right?) anyway. not pretty. not a good idea.

Would transplants from NBA help some NBA teams?nba 2k7 ,nba teams

no
TO is faster but Moss wound be a good person to get no one on him at times.
Well yea, I would take Tony Gonzalez and Antonio Gates. Also Ronald Curry.

All former basketball players in college.

Sadly it would be funny...could you see Yao Ming being a WR?...lmfao! ahahah...that would be funny.

Good luck!!

Cities without NBA teams?

The Sonics are possibly moving. Heres a list of cities that I think need a NBA franchise. Louisville, San Deigo, Baltimore, Oklahoma City, Kansas City, Las Vegas, St Louis?

Cities without NBA teams?nba video ,nba teams

Providence RI im so lonely here mayne smallest state we need sumthin!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Well they can't all have teams.. rapid expansion will leave some clubs bankrupt.
Baltimore would support a team the best out of the cities you have listed. San Diego, much like Miami has too many things to do, so even though there's plenty of people, they wouldn't support the NBA that well. When Miami was bad, nobody went neither.

Las Vegas will never happen because of legal gambling in that city.
I would like to say San Diego but southern California already has 2 teams, the Lakers and the Clippers so i think they have their share of teams already. Oklahoma City has an adopted team in the Hornets so they would also go at the bottom of my list. I like to see teams spread out over the country so i think that Baltimore might be just a little too close to the Washington Wizards in D.C. So after narrowing these down a bit, i think that out of your list of locations i would like to see a team either in Kansas City, St. Louis or Las Vegas. I think Las Vegas would be pretty cool. Can you imagine the amount of money getting put on them at the sports books if they had a home team?!?!?
The way that Oklahoma CIty took in the Hornets, and sold out their arena for a team that wasn't really theirs was nice. They should get 1st shot for their own team. Las Vegas should be 2nd, but there will always be the gambling issues. I would like Tampa Bay to get some consideration, as well as St. Louis and San Diego.
I think Hawaii desperately needs an NBA team and if Toronto can do it so can a city in Hawaii.
You cant just go adding tons to teams to any city with an arena. You will dilute the talent just like the NHL did.

- Louisville loves basketball but has no NBA level arena.

- San Diego probably also has no NBA level arena. How would the Lakers and Clippers feel. Might get too crowded down there.

- Baltimore is probably too close to Washington.

- OK City showed they will support a team when the Hornets were there. Need to upgrade the arena to get a team of their own.

- KC and St Louis both have arenas and there are no teams in the middle of the country. One of them might be a good choice.

- Vegas needs a NBA level arena.
Sonic's owner will head for the Midwest. OKC first and KC.
I think either St. Louis or Las Vegas would be top consideration if Sonics decide to move out of pacific northwest...which I doubt would happen....St. Louis is one of great sports town and everybody loves the Vegas baby. lol
Buffalo NY needs a new team. We used 2 have the Buffalo Braves. Now they are the LA Clippers. Oklahoma City has a team. The New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets.

Word on the street is that the Sonics are most likely headed to OK City if they end up leaving Seattle. They're going to have a solid young team next year and the years to come, so maybe that'll be enough to bring the fans back and keep them there.
Michigan: Great Lake Giants
Frankly, they will not move all the way east as they are a Western team. Unless re-alignment occurs, travel expenses would be a true burden for a Western conference team. New Orleans, Minnesota and Memphis all have large travel expenses owners hate paying. However, there is a serious untapped market in the southern part of the Midwest. I believe Oklahoma City, St. Louis, Kansas City.

Due to ownerships wanting large corporations to support major league teams, St. Louis is probably the most feasible option. If they stay out west, look for them to end up in Las Vegas.

Jr.nba teams in illinois?nba trade rumors ,nba teams

Why ? If you don't make school team why don't you go practice ? That would seem to be the logical thing.

Can NBA teams combine trade exceptions?

Can an NBA team combine separate trade exceptions? The Phoenix Suns have two (from trading Kurt Thomas and James Jones separately). If combined, the exceptions would be worth at least $10 million. Is this allowed?

Can NBA teams combine trade exceptions?nba referee

A team cannot combine the exceptions for one player. The Suns have two exceptions and must use them separately on two players.

Why do NBA teams suck on the road?

Case in point, the Sacramento Kings. They have a good team and a couple of superstars. Their bench rolls deep team. Yet they just cannot get it done on the road. They're 24-14 at home, but just 12-28 on the road. As a professional athlete, I would expect some sort of consistent production regardless of the venue that you're playing in. Are NBA players really THAT rattled by loud stadiums? When I goto games I agree it can get quite fking loud. But still, cmon. You're paid millions to drown it all out.

Why do NBA teams suck on the road?nba lottery

Watch this episode of Sports Science....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wkqowzcoo...

See what you think. However, the player in the vid is not a PRO. Millions doesn't change the fact that they are still human beings. It's definately mind over matter and you need nerves of steel. They have better vision, concentration, reaction times, and overall athleticism than the AVERAGE person.

Sacramento has the one of the LOUDEST venues in the NBA. Maybe the others aren't loud enough. LOL

Why do NBA teams suck on the road?nba champs ,nba teams

Distance travelled on an airplane has a lot to do with it (staying in a hotel rather than at your home and being smashed into an airplane seat for hours as a tall person rather than relaxing on your couch at home etc.)

The other factor is that refs don't like to be booed any more than any other person on earth - the home team ALWAYS gets 1 or 2 calls at home that they wouldn't get on the road because the refs don't like being hated any more than anyone else. No knock on the refs, but it's just human nature.
Not the Celtics..,
to simply answer your question, that's because the home team is more adept at their own court. that is where they usually practice, that's why the home team will always feel much better playing at home rather than at the road.
not all NBA teams suck on the road...just your SAC kings do! lol
Look at the travel schedule with the NBA teams vs any other league. Its brutal. Football plays once a week with one day of travel. Baseball plays series of games in the same time on a road trip to another city. Hockey is the same way, even when they do play different teams they are scheduled close together. Like NJ then NY the next couple days.

The NBA sucks if you go on a 4 game road trip in say 7 days, you have a travel time of 3 days. Thats less than 24 hours to get accustomed to any time differences, get some sleep if you can't sleep on a plane, go over film, address the media and practive every time you play a different game.
What superstars?
TThey are tired of traveling for a couple of hours! Some are Jet Lagged! They dont get enough time to practice on the other teams court so their not used to it..Fans insult you! in the case of the kings! they just dont have enough talent to get it done! theyre a young experienced team who hasnt reached out their potential!
Take this analogy: You are from Sacramento, you have a game in Washington. You walk from Sacramento to Washington. Do you think you will win that game after doing the miles walk?
there are calls that the hometeam gets and the road teams doesn't get. that's one factor that affects the outcome of the game. also, the crowd. i mean, if your tired and you hear people cursing you during the game, it adds up to your fatigue.
Yeah, living in California has not been kind to me. I am a Cavs fan, we moved from Ohio and the Kings have been doing awful on the road. And finishing out games has always been an issue apparently. I watched a few of their games and they lost all of them despite holding leads in the fourth quarter. I dunno why it's so hard, maybe because the other team has a lot more confidence and is willing to try more things on offense and defense. I have never understood this either.
No, they aren't rattled it's just that the home teams get that much energy from the crowd. The Suns looked good tonight and guess what? They were on the road at the Spurs
Home and away records are nearly even with the league when you count them all up.

And of course there are a bunch of other factors as to why a team loses.

I caught the middle of ESPN Classic's tv series "Who's #1?" last night and the show was a ranking of the top 20 NBA Teams of All-Time. I have tried multiple searches to locate the list that they came up with and was wondering if anyone knows where I could find it? The show aired at 10pm ET on ESPN Classic Monday 6-4-07. I think that it first aired in 2005 though from what TV guide.com is reporting.

Can anyone tell me where did each nba teams get their names?nba rumors

The Lakers are originally from Minneapolis, the land of lakes.

They retained their name when they relocateed to Los Angeles.

The Jazz are originally from New Orleans, where the jazz genre originated. They retained their name when they relocateed to Utah.

The Grizzlies are originally in Vancouver, where there are Grizzly bears. They retained their name when they relocateed to Memphis.

The Rockets are from Houston, where NASA's HQ was for the moon landing.

The Trail Blazers are from Portland, Oregon, where the Oregon Trail is located.

Mavericks, and Spurs are both horse related. Kind of like those old western stuff in Texas.

Heat, and Suns are because of the hot climate in Phoenix and Miami

The 76ers, like 1776, independence and stuff. Lots of that happened in Philadelphia.

The Wizards, because Bullets became a bad name after all the gun violence.

The Warriors, named after Native Americans apparently.

Nuggets, like gold nuggets in the rockies.

New Orleans Hornets, moved from Charlotte, but I think there are still Hornets in New Orleans.

Bucks, like male deer or something like that. Maybe they live in Milwaukee.

Nets were originally from New York. The team adopted a name that will rhyme with the New York Jets and New York Mets.

Pistons were adopted from the pistons of a car, which is common in Detroit/MoTown.

Hawks, used to be the Tri-City Blackhawks. I don't really know if there's any Hawks in Atlanta.

Knicks, short for Knickerbockers, like the things people wore in the 1920's or something, especially in New York

Timberworlves, because there are timerwolves in Minnesota.

Bobcats, apparently there are bobcats in North Carolina.

Supersonics, from supersonic flight of airplaines. The Boeing aircraft company was founded in Seattle

Magic, from the Magic Kingdom of Disney in Orlando, Florida

Clippers, which are ships...don't know why...they were once the San Diego Clippers, which has a coast, where ships dock, and Clippers are ships.

Pacers, from the pacer horses of the old Indianapolis 500

Celtics, because of the Irish heritage of Boston, and Irish people have Celtic blood

Raptors? Bulls? Kings? Cavaliers? I know what they are but I have no idea what they have to do with the city they're in.

Can anyone tell me where did each nba teams get their names?nba salaries ,nba teams

Lakers are from China, hence the great wall of china
I can help on a few, the Lakers were originally from Minneapolis Minnesota, land of 10,000 lakes. They were the Minneapolis Lakers, the Houston Rockets were originally the San Diego Rockets, has nothing to do with NASA. The LA Clippers were from San Diego, a city with many ships, but the team was originally from Buffalo. San Antonio and Dallas chose names that represent their areas, Spurs for the cowboys and Mavericks are the horses they spur on. Chicago was/is a major slaughterhouse, ergo Bulls. Detroit (motor city) motors run on pistons. Orlando Magic disney is in Orlando and it is the Magic Kingdom. If you've ever been to South Florida then you know about the heat. If you've ever been to Phoenix then the Sun there causes the real heat. the 76ers should be obvious in Philly, but since many people in our country don't have a clue about history or anything else, July 4th 1776 was a very important date in ours and Philadelphia history, look it up, they even made a movie with the same name.
bulls because the prime minister of chicago was tackled by a bull named chicago bull and.......................(sarcasm)

Can anyone tell you where each NBA team got there names? Not me, sorry. but i know the grizzlies used to be vancouver and there are grizzlies there...
Lakers are origonally from Minneapolis, the land of lakes.

Jazz are origionally from New Orleans, where there's actually jazz.

The Grizzlies used to be from Vancouver, where there are Grizzly bears.

The Rockets are from Houston, where NASA's HQ was for the moon landing or something.

The Trail Blazers are from Oregon, like Lewis and Clark and the Oregon trail.

Mavericks, and Spurs are both horse related. Kind of like those old western's and stuff.

Heat, and Suns are just pretty obvious.

The 76ers, like 1776, independence and stuff. Lots of that happened in Philadelphia.

The Wizards, because Bullets became a bad name after all the gun violence.

Nuggets, like gold nuggets in the rockies.

New Orleans Hornets, moved from Charlotte, but I think there are still Hornets in New Orleans.

Bucks, like male deer or something like that. I guess they live in Milwaukie.

Nets, just guess what that's supposed to mean.

Pistons, horse related, but I'm not sure what it has to do with Detroit.

Hawks, used to be the Tri-City Blackhawks. I don't really know if there's any Hawks in Atlanta.

Knicks, short for Knickerbockers. Like the things people wore in the 20's or something.

How long has it been since NBA teams averaged scores in the high 70's or low 80's per game?

When the basketball doesn't go in the hoop it makes me VERY SLEEPY!

How long has it been since NBA teams averaged point totals in the high 70's/low 80's for one game?nba updates

Coach Popovich's Duncan Spurs from 1999 were in a 1999 NBA Finals game which had a total of 147 points scored which tied the 147 points scored in Game Three of the 2007 NBA Finals.

I guess you would have to go back to April, 1955, yeah, that is what I understand as to when the NBA used to play their Finals, when two teams in a NBA Finals game scored less than 147 points when Fort Wayne beat the Syracuse Nationals in a NBA Finals game 74-71 for a total of 145 points. That was the first year of the 24 second NBA shot clock back in the 1954-1955 NBA season.

The results of yesterdays top 5 most disliked NBA teams poll?

21 of you responded, lettling me know your personal top 5 most disliked teams in the NBA. I tallied up the votes, and this was the final result:

1. LA Lakers, and Dallas Mavericks - 10 votes each

2. Miami - 9 votes

3. New York, and Detroit - 8 votes each

Interesting note: of the 30 teams in the NBA, all but 6 of them ended up on somebodies most disliked list. The six that didn't were:

Toronto, Chicago, Minnesota, New Orleans, Seattle, and Houston

The results of yesterdays top 5 most disliked NBA teams poll?nba standings

Apparently, four of the top five most disliked list are championship contender. I think, fans usually dislike a team that have failed their team in the past or is capable of stopping their team from advancing in the playoffs in the future. I think if the poll was done in MJ days, people would most likely dislike Bulls. I wonder why people dislike NYK?

What about this trade between 3 nba teams?

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/tr...

jermain goes to the lakers so he gets what he wants. Indiana gets kwame browns expiring contract and pau gasol will go to a better team then the grizzlies and memphis will get to rebuild with andrew bynum while vlad gets some pt at the 3 since the will most likely run and gun and vlad can play like a mike miller type of player.

i see where you're coming from but the thing about JO is if he gets traded its for young players and cap space not for a another PF and a big contract (however, kwame is expiring) but this doesn't do good to any team except the lakers

Tiebreakers

(1) Head-to-head

(2) Division record (if the teams are in the same division)

(3) Conference record

(4) Record vs. Playoff teams, own conference

(5) Record vs. Playoff teams, other conference

(6) Net points, all games

What happens if 2 NBA teams have the same win % ??nba mock draft ,nba teams

Head to head competition. Not sure what is after that.
They decide it using the season series between the two teams. Like in 2004, New Jersey and Cleveland had the same record but New Jersey was the one that got into the playoffs because they won their games against Cleveland that year.
1) head to head 2)division record 3)conference record
well... that never happens cuz games between those 2 teams have to be win by one another
they look at who won the games during the year!
What the leauge is going to do is that they take a look at the season series, if the season series is tied, point system will be used.
it depends on their season series with the team, if they have a 3 games to 1 season series, that team gets a higher seed than the other team

Most historic NBA teams?

Can someone tell me the most historic NBA teams and why? thanks

Most historic NBA teams?nba salary cap

Bulls, Lakers, and Celtics.

The Lakers and Celtics had a great rivalry which will always be remembered.

The rivalry started in the 1960s, when the Celtics defeated the Lakers six times in eight years (1962, 1963, 1965, 1966, 1968, and 1969) to claim the championship, and featured greats such as Bill Russell (Boston), Bob Cousy (Boston) and Jerry West (Los Angeles). In three of those NBA Finals ('62, '66, and '69), the series went the full seven games, with the Celtics winning each time.

It continued with renewed fervor in the 1980s when both teams were strong, and was personified as Larry Bird (Boston) vs. Magic Johnson (Los Angeles). During this period, this rivalry took on many dimensions, such as East Coast vs. West Coast and white vs. black (the Celtics teams of the 1980s were predominantly composed of Caucasian players, while those of Los Angeles were mostly African American). Additionally, prior to the 1980s, the NBA had been struggling financially, with low attendance and television ratings. The epic battles between these two teams contributed mightily to the success of the league. Coupled with the emergence of the Chicago Bulls and Michael Jordan in the following years, the NBA became a media juggernaut and one of the dominant sports leagues of the United States as well as the rest of the world. The effect the rivalry had on the league is remarkable, considering the two teams only met in an 80's Final three times (1984, 1985, and 1987) and only played each other twice each season.

The rivalry has died down since Johnson's and Bird's retirements and the rise of Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls dynasty in the 1990s.

No one will ever forget Michael Jordan's bulls from the 90's. They won 6 championships.

The 1995-96 bulls currently hold the record for most wins in a season (72-10) and I doubt anyone will ever beat it.

Most historic NBA teams?nba rumors ,nba teams

Celtics %26amp; Lakers

Not just championships, 30 combined, but most storied rivalry; greatest number of HOF players combined.
LOS ANGELES LAKERS
Boston Celtics has won the most champioship with 16 overall which includes 8 straight during the 60's but the best team in the NBA ever was the Bulls with Jordan Pippen and Rodman
There are really two "historic" teams in the NBA. The Boston Celtics have won a total of 16 championships in their history (most in the NBA), and have had greats like Red Auerbach, Bill Russell, John Havelcik, Kevin McHale, and Larry Bird, not to mention today's trio of Kevin Garnett, Paul Peirce and Ray Allen. Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Lakers have won 14 total championships (second most for any NBA team), and have had greats like Jerry West, Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson, Shaq, and of course Kobe.

When it comes to history, these two teams have the richest traditions in the entire NBA by leaps and bounds. The only teams that come even close to the Lakers and the Celtics in terms of championships won are the Chicago Bulls with 6 (all from the Jordan era), and the San Antonio Spurs with 4 (all from the Tim Duncan era).
Chicago Bulls won six championships, Boston Cetics have won 16, and there have been many great players who played for them including Bill Russell, Larry Bird and even now the Big three is killing everyone in the NBA. Also Philadelphia 76ers where Barkley, Iverson, Julius Erving played
I don't quite understand the wording of this question. Well, the Bulls in the 90s with Pippin, Jordan, and Rodman were the best team ever. Is that what you meant?
Boston Celtics %26amp; LA Lakers...

Who agrees the nba, nfl, and mlb should make new expansion teams?

or move one team from a city that has 2 teams from one sport to another city.like ny,chicago and l.a. cincy needs an nba team. and indy needs a baseball team. the white sox could move to indy and chicago would still have a baseball team left. i know you are saying the 3 cities are big. but other cities civilians want a baseball or a basketball or football team game to go to. the residents of l.a. have 2 choices 4 baseball! dodgers or angels! in indy they can just use gas and go to det. or cincy to watch a game. thats bull crap.

Who agrees the nba, nfl, and mlb should make new expansion teams?nba 2k

i don't think so. i watch the nba mostly, and there are so many bad teams. if there were a few less teams then there would be a lot less average players in the league. also, the stars of the bad teams would be put on one team. for example, if they got rid of the mediocre minnesota timberwolves, garnet could move to atlanta (or wherever) and make that franchise more competitive. i assume this could work in all team sports.

Who agrees the nba, nfl, and mlb should make new expansion teams?nba updates ,nba teams

From Indy I take it. They wont put an expansion team here due to us having 4 within driving distance, 2 in chicago, DETROIT, and the Reds. The Reds have a large following here due to them and the Indpls Indians being affiliated, the reds use to play a game here every year against the Indians. Now its the Pirates we are affiliated with oh how time changes. As long as the Colts keep winning and the Pacers can return to winning I cant see a major league team here in the city, the Indians do ok in attendance but where are you going to put a new ball park or are you wanting to expand Victory Field. I for one am fine with what we have here in Indy.
Baseball should not, they should lose teams, the fewer people on steriods the better for the entire country.

Football is good how it is.

NBA needs like two teams in europe, that would be the ****.

Remember too many teams depleats the talant pool, i think baseball would realy suffer with more teams. there are barely enough pitchers to fill the rosters now.

How many teams in NBA history have come back to force a game 7 after trailing 0-3?

After trailing a best of 7 series 0-3, only 9 NBA teams have ever come back to force a game 6. No team has ever won a series after trailing 0-3. However, how many have at least forced a game 7?

How many teams in NBA history have come back to force a game 7 after trailing 0-3?nba trade rumors

3 teams acutally have forced a game 7

and lets hope the bulls do it tonite

1951 Knicks

Then: The Knicks' backcourt led the way in Game 6 against Rochester, with Max Zaslofsky scoring 23 points and Ernie Vandeweghe adding 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting.

Now: The guards needing to serve as human omens for a team? With Ben Gordon exploding in Game 5 and Kirk Hinrich playing relaxed and efficiently, what else is new for the Bulls?

Then: The Knicks had a center named "Sweetwater" Clifton.

Now: The Bulls have Michael Sweetney. Book your hotels in Auburn Hills now.

1994 Nuggets

Then: Dikembe Mutombo had a monster Game 6, scoring 23 points, grabbing 12 rebounds, blocking five shots and playing 46 minutes against Utah. This after guard Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf ended postseason struggles with a 22-point Game 5.

Now: A transcendent individual performance can transform a series' momentum. The Bulls' Gordon helped prove that in Game 5 and would do well to continue the trend in Game 6.

Then: The Jazz's premier trio wasn't exactly humbled. Karl Malone had 31 points, Jeff Hornacek had 26 and John Stockton added 17. But Utah's offense crumbled in the fourth quarter and a seven-point lead disappeared.

Now: First, the Bulls probably can live with 17 points from Detroit maestro Chauncey Billups. Second, keeping it close and then making the big shots in the last 12 minutes? There are worse plans to win playoff games.

2003 Trail Blazers

Then: Portland shot 59.8 percent from the field in Game 6 against Dallas, with six Blazers scoring in double figures.

Now: The Bulls may have played their offensive insanity card in Game 5, with the 70 percent first-half shooting. But the offense was efficient in Game 4 too. No time to deviate from what's working.

Then: Rasheed Wallace, then a Blazer, led 20,602 Portland fans in the wave in the fourth quarter.

Now: If Wallace's Pistons team endures the opposite fate in a Game 6 this time around, he might be inclined to a different set of gestures toward the United Center fans.

Can nba teams still trade????

i know the trade deadline was at 3 o clock but can nba teams still make a trade please answer

Can nba teams still trade????2006 nba draft

well... if they just started the trade after 3:oo then they probably wouldn't be able to trade but..... if they were discussing a trade like an hour before the trade deadline the nba commisioner could give them an extra time. (the nba commisioner gave extra time for the cavs, sonics, and bulls trade)

Can nba teams still trade????nba schedule ,nba teams

no, they cannot make a trade until the offseason, once the playoffs are over. It is only then teams can start trading players to other teams. The only time NBA trades do not take place is between the trade deadline and the end of the regular season/playoffs.
well there is alot that has to go just right, alot

first off i know it has to be through waivers

also the commishoner has to pass the trade

also you cant be a contender which mathimaticly everyone is right now, even the heat

also alot more has to go through

its best to just wait until the offseason

Which nba teams has the most....?nba graphics ,nba teams

I would say Pistons, Celtics and Spurs are 3 of the deepest teams in this league.

Pistons 2nd unit in Stuckey/Maxiell/Johnson/Hayes/Afflalo is good enough to beat at least 2/3 of lottery-bound teams as will if they are all on the floor, and that unit is pretty young.

We know Celtics has Big 3 and a couple of veterans in Cassell and Brown, but Posey is the 1st-tier defender in this league, House is one of the best per-minute scorers, plus promising young guys like Davis/Powe/T Allen/Ronjo/Perkins. They are just making themselves a deeper team day after day.

Spurs is too obvious - a Seniors club but they are just good enough to beat you. When Stoudamire is 3 years early to be the 10th/11th man, the team he plays is truly deep.
The BenchMob aka The Lakers Bench.

next season they'll have;

Farmar, Ariza, Vujacic, Radmanovic and Turiaf

Thats the best bench for a long time..

Farmar- He got a good looking 3point shot, he always does it at the buzzer. And he is real quick and can dish. a few years from now i think he can be the starter..

Vujacic - Improved from last season and can only get better from now. he's a deadly 3point shooter..

Ariza - He'll be a starter at some point (maybe in 2009/10). If he plays next season i think he'll be 6th man of the year. He's really that good.

Turiaf - Energy man. A must-have teammate. The ultimate hustler. I love this guy!! He can give you 8rebounds a game with a few blocks. He's also shooting well lately, he can only get better..

Radmanovic - Another accurate shooter, he's been hittin big 3's this season especially at dallas where he drained 3 3's that killed the mav's. i think he'll have much better games coming of the bench next season..
Lakers.. they're young and energetic.... but Spurs also has a good bench

Lakers:

Farmar can dish out some good assists and he does have a decent shot; Vujacic is liek Laker's best 3-point shooter but he makes some dumb mistakes, Ronny is like the Laker's energy man.... he is the hustle man.... and Radmonovic is like a mini-Dirk.. a PF who has a decent 3-point shot
Denver. They're bench could be their starting lineup and beat half th eteams in the nba.

PG-Chucky Atkins

SG-J.R. Smith

SF-Linas Kleiza

PF-Nene

C-Steven Hunter

amazing
Lakers for sure then denver then rockets.

mcgrady is getting on his game gradually but denvers J.R. smith is really a stunner when he gets going.
i would say the denver nuggets jr smith can score at will when he is on his game, nene is an outstanding C/F, and Kleiza pretty good scorer
Denver, J R smith and Kleiza can hit 3 all day long, and Nene when he a little more healthy would be dominant, so i like Denver
dallas mavericks

jason terry, jerry stackhouse, devean george
Hornets, Raptors and Rockets
spurs on your list

Why do NBA teams play undermanned?

I'm watching Celtics vs. Raptors tonight and the Celtics have all of 9 players.

Don't NBA teams have farm teams or practise squads or whatever they could call up players from?

Why do NBA teams play undermanned?nba draft order

have 3 spots they can put inactive and 15 roster spots with 12 active and the option for 10 day contracts or to call someone up from the D-league

but to make room the teams would have to waive a player on salary and teams don't won't to pay a cut player and then have to sign a guy for any short term problem

9 players isn't that bad of a rotation

a lot of top teams over the years only used a 7 or 8 man rotation for the entire season

Recently NBA team s are transferring their team location from their original city to another city because of various reasons ranging from team ownership, arena problems, rents, taxes etc.....Just wondering what are the teams in NBA right now that are still in their original cities .. Do you have the information.....?

What are the only teams in the NBA that are still in their original city?nba live 2006

New York Knicks, Boston Celtics are two of the original teams that are still in their cities of origin. Chicago Bulls were an added team later who have not moved from original site as our several "modern" teams. Question needs to be a bit more specific.

NBA Teams Already Clinched Playoff Spots???

The last couple of days when I've checked Yahoo Sports NBA Standings, It's said that the top 3 teams in both the East and West have clinched a playoff spot already. Is there something going on that I don't know about or is there just a glitch!?!?

NBA Teams Already Clinched Playoff Spots???nba odds

Mathematically speaking.....It's not yet possible to clinch a playoff spot coz its too early to tell........ why?

As of Dec. 14, 2007

The top 3 teams in the NBA are:

Celtics 18-2

Spurs 17-5

Suns 17-6

Bottom 3 teams in the NBA are:

Grizzlies 6-15

knicks 6-15

Timberwolves 3-17

at the end of the season (82 games) lets say they could possibly loose all their remaining games, for example:

Celtics 18-64

Spurs 17-65

Suns 17-65

with a record like this, they will surely be out of the playoffs, right?

how about if the bottom teams wins all there remaining games?

Grizzlies 67-15

Knicks 67-15

Timberwolves 65-17

They will surely clinched the playoffs, right?

Therefore , as of today, mathematically speaking, no team have clinched a playoff spot due to some possibilities that might happen just like my sample.......

Got it? Go0d!!!

NBA Teams Already Clinched Playoff Spots???nba statistics ,nba teams

Impossible. No team can clinch this early.

Boston Celtics for example are 18-2. They can technically finish 18-64 and be the worst team in the league. No way have they clinched.

You probably saw the designation for division leader (which is surprisingly not indicated as division leader, so I can see where the confusion stems).
With 60 or so games left no one is mathematically guaranteed a playoff spot. They may think differently in Boston but lets see how the Cltics first trip to the west coast pans out. On the left coast they will struggle against the likes of Portland, Seattle and Golden State.

What you were probably looking at (it may be badly annotated) is the listing of the 3 divisional leaders. If you look carefully you may see that one or two of those teams is listed ahead of a team or teams with better records within their conference, East or West. Division leaders, regardless of records make the palyoffs at the end of the season as do the net 5 best teams in the conference based on won loss record.
i bet u don't know anything about NBA if u said so.

Not even half way through of the regular season, how on earth they can clinch?????
Way too early.
its wrong

there is no way they could clinch it yet
not yet
Division leaders automatically clinch a playoff spot and they are marked as such in the Yahoo Sports website.

This is automatically updated as the season goes on.

NBA teams retired numbers: They will run out right?

http://www.nba.com/celtics/history/Retir...

The Boston Celtics has an awful lot of retired numbers. If teams keep having great players who'll have numbers retired soon, how will they accommodate newer numbers? They are going to run out of 2-digit numbers one day right? So how does this work?

NBA teams retired numbers: They will run out right?nba street homecourt

With most teams, it'll be a while before they run out of the good numbers...

Rules prohibit 3 digit numbers in the NBA, but any 1 or 2 digit number is fine.

If a team starts to retire too many numbers, they can always resort to having the player's name hanging up, rather than his uniform number... for example, the Celtics have "Loscy" hanging up as a retired "number" (for Jim Loscutoff)... so they can still honor their players that way.

"Loscy" is one of about 22 retired numbers in Boston, including #1 (for their original owner, Walter Brown) and #2 (for Red Auerbach).

Teams also can become pickier when it comes to retiring numbers... some expansion teams have retired numbers that should't really be retired, simply because a guy was their original best player when the team started.

Other teams sometimes retire numbers for players who wouldn't normally have had their number retired (e.g. Bobby Phills) , because they died young (and in Phills' case, foolishly). Malik Sealy also had his number retired by Minnesota after being killed in an accident (not his fault). Same with the Nets and Drazen Petrovic, who was a great player in Europe (hence his induction into the HOF), but in the NBA, wasn't a Hall of Famer on the best day of his life.

In football, it's tough to retire numbers, because players at each position are limited as to which number they can wear, so teams will simply acknowledge their great players by name, rather than retiring their uniform numbers (as in the Cowboys' "Ring of Honor").

In baseball, several teams honor players who played before the late 1920s by displaying their names, as players who played prior to the late 20s did not have uniform numbers (I think the Giants honored Christy Mathewson in this manner, and perhaps John McGraw as well).

In the Celtics case, it'll probably be awhile before anyone there earns a retired number honor, as it's been over 20 years since they won anything. Basically, every Celtic retired number (except Reggie Lewis, who died young, and Ed Macauley, who was their first star player) are from players who played major roles in helping the Celtics achieve championship status.

NBA teams retired numbers: They will run out right?nba salary cap ,nba teams

Ten years from now, I am sure the numbers 34, 5 and 20 will be retired by the Boston Celtics. These jersey numbers actually belong to Pierce, Garnett, and Ray Allen respectively. Banner 17, 18, 19 and 20 will be hanging in the rafters pretty soon.

Interestingly, the Miami Heat retired the number 23 in honor of Michael Jordan. Though Jordan never played for them. What a joke!
The Celtics have retired 22 numbers in 75 years. At that rate it will take another 200 years before they run out of 2 digit numbers. We'll worry about it then.
It would take a long time to run out of numbers. The NBA also makes accommodations to have certain numbers (ie: 99, 91, 84) that aren't normally allowed.
no... most teams have like 5 or so retired numbers.... thats 5 outta the numbers 00 through 99
The Celtics have retired the most jerseys in professional sports. Most other teams are not in danger of running out of numbers any time soon.
In about 50 to 60 from now, the Celtics might be in danger of running out of retired numbers, but I think that Mr. Commisioner(David Stern will NOT be commisioner in 2060, trust me), will probably use decimal numbers. Ex: 2.6, 4.9, 0.2
lemme tell you some thing in 20 years look for murat demir #44 thaat will be a retired jersey

How many nba teams have come back from an 0-2 deficit in a best-of-seven playoff series?

I was wondering about this since last night on TNT they said that 191/204 teams have won a 7 game series when up 2-0, around 94%. I want to know the 13 teams that have come back, but I'm having trouble finding this anywhere on the web. Any help would be appreciated.

I have 4 teams so far:

'07 Cavaliers (ECF vs. Detroit)

'07 Jazz (WC 1st vs. Houston)

'06 Heat (NBA Finals vs. Dallas)

'04 Lakers (WC SF vs. San Antonio)

I have some old basketball books, and very good memory of 80's and 90's NBA, so I can add the following:

1. 1969 Boston Celtics - came back to defeat Lakers in 7 games in NBA finals; Bill Russell's last yer

2. 1977 Portland Trailblazers - won 4 straight versus Sixers in 77 Finals after dropping first 2 in Philly (I'm old enough to have memories of that)

3. Houston : 1994 West semifinals versus Phoenix, they actually lost first 2 games at home, but rallied to win in 7)

4. Houston : 1995 West semifinals versus Phoenix (again!) and this time, Houston was actually trailing 3-1 and won 7th game on the ROAD at Phoenix

(Houston won the title both years)

5. 1993 Chicago Bulls (East Finals) - beat Knicks 4 straight after losing 1st two in Madison Square Garden, 2nd game featured Stark's great dunk in last minute

6. Dallas (1st round versus Rockets, 2004 or 2005): Dallas lost first 2 games at home but T-Mac and Yao Ming choked.

Plus your 4 teams, that's 10.

I have to check but I think Lakers were trailing 2-0 in 1970 West Semis to Hawks (then in West) as well and rallied from 2-0 and 3-1 deficit.
Phoenix is going to be another statistic.

They have the wrong coach leading them if they want to take back this series.

Athletically, Phoenix is superior to San Antonio. But where the Spurs are killing them is coaching and experience.

The '04 Lakers left San Antonio 0-2 down then won 4 straight to beat the spurs 4-2.

How many NBA teams have been playing team basketball, and who the ultimate winner so far?

With so many teams in NBA, which ones are/were really playing team ball with more than five players shining as hero, which one had more players who would like to stay with the team for his entire life, on and/or off the court?

Look at what Larry Bird and Kevin McHale have been doing... they work on someone else's payroll to help get Celtics back.

Overall speaking, there are only "two" good teams in NBA, Red's team, and Jackson's teams.

SUNS!
probably the Spurs, they definitely play team ball, win championships and I can't picture any of their core players playing elsewhere.

if you mean top 5 of all time, they're certainly in the discussion. only a few teams have been considered dynasties. the spurs are on the lower end of that but are talked about in that respect. they hurt their reputation a little bit in their past championship but i guess a team that plays dirty is still playing dirty together.
ROCKETS!

I can agree with the above and say Spurs, but another team who plays team ball is the Houston Rockets. All five of their lineup plays team ball.As far as succesful I can say they will predict they will make it deep into the playoffs.
the Detroit pistons -- always in the play offs year in year out--no big STAR the epitome of team sports // short but true
spurs!
the raptors, we are known as playing team basketball, and usually per possesion we get 6-8 touches before someone takes the shot. also 25-30 assists a game. Bosh is one of the best team players who really shares the ball regardless if he even gets 10 points a game. Any NBA player that comes to our team really fits in the style of play, because we're always looking for the open guy and noone cares if they get 10 shots a game or 1 shot. Bosh loves the fact that he has 2 top quality point guards (starter TJ Ford who gets 8 dimes a game, and our bench point guard Jose Calderon who gets 6 off the bench!!). Every game, there will be a different points leader, whether it be the first man on the roster or the 6th man. Just watch a game and you'll hear the announcer's saying "that's unselfish basketball" and how we kick the ball in and then swing it around the perimeter and back in untill we get a great look.
No NBA team has ever had 'more than five players shining as hero". You need to reword your question.

Do last place nba teams ever lose on purpose?

..when theres no chance to make the playoffs. You would think teams like the grizzlies or suxxers would just tank it for better draft picks but i never seen it.

Do last place nba teams ever lose on purpose?ncaa

No, they don't lose on purpose, and here's why: You would think the GMs might want them to lose toward the end of the season if the team is doing terribly awful and they want a #1 draft pick. BUT, that's what the GM wants. The players on that last place team don't want to lose. Getting a really high draft pick player means less playing time next year for them AND they will have less opportunity to develop into a truly good basketball player.

Do last place nba teams ever lose on purpose?soccer ,nba teams

It's happened before. That's how Spurs got Duncan.
trust me, no team wants to lose in front of hundreds of fans.

so, no i don't think they lose on purpose.
I would hope that teams do not do that, but isn't it suspicious how the Cavs just happened tho have the worst record in the league the year Lebron was coming out in the draft. Makes you ponder doesn't it.
No they try their hardest. Because if they keep losing then they get fired.
I don't think they lose on purpose, nobody likes to lose. But I don't think that they give as much effort as they usually would.
thats why the NBA has a lottery so teams have no guarantee that if they tank it, they will get the 1st overall pick.. the worst team has a 25% chance of getting tha 1st overall pick
THE LOTTERY WAS INITIATED TO STOP TEAMS FROM GOING IN THE TANK ON PURPOSE.
