Can anyone tell me where did each nba teams get their names?

Example:

L.A Lakers, why Lakers?

Chicago Bulls, why Bulls?

etc.

Please name all NBA teams.. Thanks,

Can anyone tell me where did each nba teams get their names?nba rumors

The Lakers are originally from Minneapolis, the land of lakes.

They retained their name when they relocateed to Los Angeles.

The Jazz are originally from New Orleans, where the jazz genre originated. They retained their name when they relocateed to Utah.

The Grizzlies are originally in Vancouver, where there are Grizzly bears. They retained their name when they relocateed to Memphis.

The Rockets are from Houston, where NASA's HQ was for the moon landing.

The Trail Blazers are from Portland, Oregon, where the Oregon Trail is located.

Mavericks, and Spurs are both horse related. Kind of like those old western stuff in Texas.

Heat, and Suns are because of the hot climate in Phoenix and Miami

The 76ers, like 1776, independence and stuff. Lots of that happened in Philadelphia.

The Wizards, because Bullets became a bad name after all the gun violence.

The Warriors, named after Native Americans apparently.

Nuggets, like gold nuggets in the rockies.

New Orleans Hornets, moved from Charlotte, but I think there are still Hornets in New Orleans.

Bucks, like male deer or something like that. Maybe they live in Milwaukee.

Nets were originally from New York. The team adopted a name that will rhyme with the New York Jets and New York Mets.

Pistons were adopted from the pistons of a car, which is common in Detroit/MoTown.

Hawks, used to be the Tri-City Blackhawks. I don't really know if there's any Hawks in Atlanta.

Knicks, short for Knickerbockers, like the things people wore in the 1920's or something, especially in New York

Timberworlves, because there are timerwolves in Minnesota.

Bobcats, apparently there are bobcats in North Carolina.

Supersonics, from supersonic flight of airplaines. The Boeing aircraft company was founded in Seattle

Magic, from the Magic Kingdom of Disney in Orlando, Florida

Clippers, which are ships...don't know why...they were once the San Diego Clippers, which has a coast, where ships dock, and Clippers are ships.

Pacers, from the pacer horses of the old Indianapolis 500

Celtics, because of the Irish heritage of Boston, and Irish people have Celtic blood

Raptors? Bulls? Kings? Cavaliers? I know what they are but I have no idea what they have to do with the city they're in.

Can anyone tell me where did each nba teams get their names?nba salaries ,nba teams

Lakers are from China, hence the great wall of china
I can help on a few, the Lakers were originally from Minneapolis Minnesota, land of 10,000 lakes. They were the Minneapolis Lakers, the Houston Rockets were originally the San Diego Rockets, has nothing to do with NASA. The LA Clippers were from San Diego, a city with many ships, but the team was originally from Buffalo. San Antonio and Dallas chose names that represent their areas, Spurs for the cowboys and Mavericks are the horses they spur on. Chicago was/is a major slaughterhouse, ergo Bulls. Detroit (motor city) motors run on pistons. Orlando Magic disney is in Orlando and it is the Magic Kingdom. If you've ever been to South Florida then you know about the heat. If you've ever been to Phoenix then the Sun there causes the real heat. the 76ers should be obvious in Philly, but since many people in our country don't have a clue about history or anything else, July 4th 1776 was a very important date in ours and Philadelphia history, look it up, they even made a movie with the same name.
bulls because the prime minister of chicago was tackled by a bull named chicago bull and.......................(sarcasm)

how are we supposed to noe? Dont people just randomly select one?/
Can anyone tell you where each NBA team got there names? Not me, sorry. but i know the grizzlies used to be vancouver and there are grizzlies there...
Lakers are origonally from Minneapolis, the land of lakes.

Jazz are origionally from New Orleans, where there's actually jazz.

The Grizzlies used to be from Vancouver, where there are Grizzly bears.

The Rockets are from Houston, where NASA's HQ was for the moon landing or something.

The Trail Blazers are from Oregon, like Lewis and Clark and the Oregon trail.

Mavericks, and Spurs are both horse related. Kind of like those old western's and stuff.

Heat, and Suns are just pretty obvious.

I guess they live in Milwaukie.

Nets, just guess what that's supposed to mean.

Pistons, horse related, but I'm not sure what it has to do with Detroit.

Hawks, used to be the Tri-City Blackhawks. I don't really know if there's any Hawks in Atlanta.

Knicks, short for Knickerbockers. Like the things people wore in the 20's or something.

Timberworlves, because there are timerwolves in Minnesota.

And the Bobcats, apparently there are bobcats in North Carolina.

Raptors? Bulls? Kings? Celtics? Cavaliers? I know what they are but I have no idea what they have to do with the city they're in.

Sonics? Magic? Clippers? Pacers? I have no idea.
